Splitting: Splitting means you can play both cards as there own hand, increases your starting bet and allowing you to earn extra money. Example: If you have two fours then you can "split" them and then try to get both the fours as close to 21 as you can, each 4 having there owning bet on them, meaning if you win both hands then you win double your starting bet.
General Rules of splitting.
Always split aces.
Always split eights.
Never split fours, fives or tens.
Split twos and threes only when the dealer has four through seven.
Split sixes when the dealer has three through six.
Split sevens when the dealer has two through seven.
Split nines when the dealer has two through six, and eight or nine.
Now remember this is only a general guideline, you can always take chances and sometimes it pays out. For example if a dealer has a 6 up its a bust card, because most likely he has 16 and will have to hit. Now it says to never split tens, but in this case it may be alright because you can end up staying on a 14 with one of them and still have a good chance the dealer will bust and you will get paid out more, its all about how you wanna play in the end.
